APPLE NEWS | OCTOBER 2026

Imagine a Smart Display That Knows Who You Are

Imagine walking into your kitchen and seeing a screen automatically display your calendar, reminders, and personal information.

When another family member approaches, the screen changes to their personalized experience.

That's one of the standout features of Apple HomeView, announced on October 13, 2026.

But HomeView is more than another smart display. It's Apple's attempt to bring entertainment, communication, artificial intelligence, and smart home controls into one device.

Here's everything you need to know, including the features, pricing, privacy protections, and important limitations.

Apple HomeView: Key Specifications

Assistant: Siri AI

A Display That Recognizes Your Family

Unlike a traditional shared display, HomeView recognizes up to six household members using facial recognition.

Each person can have their own Home Screen, apps, widgets, and personalized information.

What Can It Personalize?
  • Calendar appointments.
  • Reminders and daily schedules.
  • Personal information from Messages.
  • Favorite music and photos.
  • Home Screen apps and widgets.

Family members can still enjoy shared photo albums and music collections.

Importantly, accessing sensitive personal information requires additional security checks, including a nearby paired iPhone or iPad that has been recently unlocked.

Siri AI: More Than Voice Commands

HomeView introduces Apple's next-generation Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence.

Instead of relying entirely on short, specific commands, users can interact with Siri through more natural conversations.

What Can Siri AI Do?
  • Answer questions on a wide range of topics.
  • Discover music based on conversational requests.
  • Control compatible smart home devices.
  • Help with reminders and schedules.
  • Use personal context from supported Apple apps.

There's an important difference between general Siri AI capabilities and advanced personalized assistance.

HomeView can answer general questions and support natural conversations without requiring an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.

However, accessing personal context from apps such as Calendar and Messages requires a compatible nearby device.

Language limitation: Siri AI on HomeView initially supports English. Arabic is not supported at launch.

A Central Hub for Your Smart Home

HomeView brings compatible smart home accessories together through the Apple Home app.

Users can control devices through the touchscreen or Siri AI.

Supported Activities
  • Adjust smart lighting.
  • Control compatible window blinds.
  • Change thermostat settings.
  • View security camera feeds.
  • Manage connected door locks.
  • Run home automation routines.

One notable feature is the ability to display up to nine compatible camera feeds simultaneously.

With supported cameras and an eligible iCloud+ subscription, HomeView can recognize people, pets, vehicles, and packages.

The device can also recognize the sound of smoke or carbon monoxide alarms and send notifications to connected Apple devices.

HomeView supports compatible Apple Home and Matter accessories. However, not every smart home product is guaranteed to work.

Entertainment, Calls, and Everyday Tasks

HomeView also serves as an entertainment and communication device for shared spaces.

  • Listen to Apple Music and Podcasts.
  • Watch compatible video content.
  • Make FaceTime calls with Center Stage.
  • Follow recipes with hands-free timers.
  • Send Intercom messages around the house.
  • Locate devices and supported items through Find My.
  • Enjoy multiroom audio with compatible speakers.

The tabletop model features a custom audio system with dedicated drivers and a down-firing woofer.

It also supports Spatial Audio and computational audio processing.

The wall-mounted version uses a different speaker configuration optimized for its installation style.

What About Privacy?

A device with microphones, a camera, and facial recognition inside the home naturally raises privacy questions.

Apple says HomeView uses Secure Exclaves, isolated processing environments designed to protect sensitive camera and microphone data.

Personal content is displayed only after the required identity and device checks are satisfied.

Siri requests can be processed locally or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute infrastructure, depending on the task.

These are meaningful privacy protections on paper, but independent testing will be important to evaluate how effectively they work in everyday use.

Design, Colors, and Models

Apple offers two distinct HomeView models.

1. Tabletop HomeView

Features an integrated speaker base and an adjustable display angle.

Available in Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink, and Space Gray.

2. Wall-Mounted HomeView

A slimmer version designed for permanent wall installation.

Available in Silver and Space Gray.

Requires a compatible mount and power solution, sold separately.

Both models feature a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone and brightness ranging from 0.3 to 500 nits.

The Real Price of Apple HomeView

Apple HomeView starts at $299 in the United States.

Tabletop Model: $299

Wall-Mounted Model: $299 before accessories

USB-C Wall Connector: From $59.95

AC Wired Mount: From $79.95

Release Date: November 13, 2026

Pre-orders: Started October 13, 2026

The important detail is that the wall-mounted version requires additional accessories to operate.

That means its actual purchase cost is higher than the advertised $299, even before potential installation costs.

Both models require wired power, so HomeView is not designed to be a battery-powered portable display.

Regional availability: Apple has not announced Jordan as an initial launch market. Siri AI also lacks Arabic support at launch.

TechMama's Take: Is HomeView Worth Buying?

HomeView could be a useful addition for households that already own several Apple devices and compatible smart home accessories.

Its most interesting feature isn't necessarily the screen itself.

It's the combination of facial recognition, personalized information, and smart home controls in one shared device.

However, its value becomes less obvious if your home isn't already equipped with compatible smart accessories.

There's also the language limitation. For Arabic-speaking households, the lack of Arabic support for Siri AI at launch reduces the appeal of one of the device's biggest features.

Our verdict: HomeView is a promising smart home concept, but its true value will depend on real-world Siri performance, reliable personalization, device compatibility, and wider language availability.
